The Florida Bar's certification program is repeatedly recognized as a leader among other state programs, and those that pass are in an elite network of highly specialized attorneys. As a Board Certified lawyer, Lavern is classified as an expert in her practice. To qualify for this honor, an attorney must have practiced law full-time for at least five years, have notable involvement in the labor and employment law practice (at least 50 percent of the attorney's practice), a reputable peer review, completed 60 hours of continuing legal education within three years prior to the time of application, as well as pass a written examination of experience, expertise, and comprehension in the field of labor and employment law.
Lavern concentrates her practice on defending employers in discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, whistle-blower, retaliation, employment/business torts and wrongful termination litigation, in both state a federal courts.
