Webinar

"Westward Ho: Are Illinois employment laws moving towards California?" - Complimentary Webinar

Date   Mar 2, 2017

This webinar was recorded on March 2, 2017.

About the Program
California is known as having the most pro-employee employment laws in the country. How far behind is Illinois? Not very. Join Craig Thorstenson and Kimberly Ross for a webinar discussing new laws in Illinois, amendments to existing laws, and those laws in Illinois that employers based elsewhere often don’t consider, sometimes to their peril. They will explore the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act, and the Victim’s Economic Security and Safety Act. They will cover new leave laws, including earned sick leave (which will soon be required in Chicago and Cook County), the Illinois Employee Sick Leave Act, the Illinois Child Bereavement Leave Act, and the Illinois School Visitation Rights Act.  They will also review a few existing Illinois laws with which many employers are not in compliance (or perhaps not even aware of), including the Illinois One Day Rest in Seven Act, the Job Opportunities for Qualified Applicants Act (“Ban the Box”), and the Illinois Personnel Record Review Act.
