We understand the day-to-day challenges of our clients operating in a highly regulated government contracting environment.
Government contractors must carefully navigate a myriad of laws and regulations, which constantly shift and change with the political process and new administrations. Many of our attorneys have formerly served in government positions and can assist in navigating this process. During their careers, our attorneys have held key roles with the DOL, NLRB, OSHA, IRS and other agencies. This gives us a unique perspective and insight into the workings of these agencies.
Our attorneys have also previously worked as in-house counsel to government contractors and understand their special needs and challenges. As part of our promise to learn our clients' businesses, we recently implemented a program whereby we have seconded firm associates to our government contractor clients.
We represent government contractors in all aspects of employment and labor law, including:
Employment discrimination and affirmative action matters. We routinely defend all types of discrimination claims before federal, state and local agencies and defend lawsuits in federal and state courts, including class action litigation. We prepare affirmative action plans and represent our government contractor clients in audits and compliance reviews by the OFCCP. Wage and Hour. Our lawyers are well versed in the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Service Contract Act, the Davis Bacon Act, and the Walsh Healey Act, as well as state and local prevailing wage statutes governing government contractors. We represent our clients in matters ranging from agency investigations to complex class and collective action litigation.
Labor Relations. We represent and defend employers in union organizing drives and have successfully guided employers through thousands of union elections. We advise our government contractor clients on successorship issues under the National Labor Relations Act and regularly serve as the employer's representative in collective bargaining and arbitrations.
Training and advice. We are committed to preventing problems and train managers and supervisors on all aspects of labor and employment law. We advise and assist our government contractor clients with the full range of day-to-day employment issues facing employers today such as discipline and discharge, reductions-in–force, workplace investigations, standards of business conduct and whistleblower issues, executive employment and severance agreements, trade secret and non-compete issues, drug abuse and drug testing, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and avoiding violence in the workplace.
Our knowledge of the government contracting industry allows us to be instantly responsive to our clients needs in these areas.
