FordHarrison attorney Patrick Ryan and Emory University 2L Patrick Corley contributed the article, "DOL reverses positions on joint employment, independent contractors," to the July 2017 edition of Georgia Employment Law Letter. Their article focuses on two Administrator Interpretations (AIs) issued during the Obama administration that have now been rescinded by the Department of Labor. The AIs "expansively interpreted employers' potential liability under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and focused on determining whether companies are joint employers and whether workers are employees or independent contractors," said the article.
