About the Program
Join FordHarrison attorneys Keya Denner and Karen Milner for an in-depth discussion on the implications of the new medical and recreational cannabis laws throughout the US, their impact on the workplace, and the novel problems employers are facing in enforcing their drug policies against a workforce that is working remotely. Topics will include:
- Overview of the current federal cannabis landscape, including the recent passage of the MORE Act in the House of Representatives,
- Discussion of states which recently passed ballot initiatives to legalize recreational and/or medical cannabis in the November election,
- Common employment protections for cannabis users found in state laws,
- Impact on employers’ drug testing policies and procedures, including testing of prospective employees for THC, and how to manage reasonable suspicion testing for remote workers,
- Best practices for dealing with cannabis in the workplace
