About the Program
With the ever-increasing number of states across the country legalizing cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes, employers in all industries are faced with new challenges when it comes to maintaining a drug-free workplace. Some states' laws provide employment protections for employees using medicinal marijuana and, in some cases, employment protections for employee off-duty use of recreational marijuana.
Join FordHarrison attorneys Dan Cardno and Karen Milner for an in-depth discussion on the implications of managing a workforce that uses cannabis now more than ever. This program will provide a summary of those state laws, and we will also discuss the impact of these state laws on employers with workers covered by federal drug and alcohol testing regulations, such as those in place for employees subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations. The program will also cover the proposed DOT rule issued in February 2022 which would allow DOT testing using saliva instead of urine.
