About the Program
Join FordHarrison California attorneys Astineh Arakelian and David L. Cheng for an informative discussion of the best practices employers should use in the wake of increased attention to transgender employee rights in California and throughout the United States. The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (“DFEH”) recently issued guidelines that apply to transgender employee rights. These guidelines address various issues that may arise in the workplace, including interview questions, documentations employers may request from employees during job application and after employing a transgender employee, job duties and benefits that transgender employees are entitled to, rest period requirements, facilities that transgender employees can use, the terminology that employers can use when referring to transgender employees, training requirements, and dress code and grooming standards.
